  • Gradebook Declaration: I completed this week’s Technology Activity: FTP assignment using an FTP program like Filezilla. I have emailed a screenshot to the instructor of my FTP program with files from my local computer displayed on one side of the screen and with the file(s) I uploaded to my web hosting account displayed on the other side.

In this week’s Technology Activity: FTP, I strongly recommended that you use an FTP program like Filezilla instead of your web host’s file manager. Here’s a link to the page where you can download the Filezilla FTP client:

Here is a good resource for using Filezilla:

This tutorial was made by BlueHost, but the instructions apply to all web hosts.  The main difference is that each host has different ways for you to find your host name, user name, and password. Here are links to the four hosts I have recommended:

Warning About Saving Passwords

I strongly recommend that you consider NOT saving your passwords in Filezilla. When setting up your account, you would set the “Logontype” to “Ask for password” (instead of “Normal”). I have a story that I will tell in class about why I make this recommendation.
