BONUS: Content + Quiz

This assignment covers CSS3, the new specification that is currently in development for one of the web technologies we discussed this semester.

  • Content Isn’t Compost (13:18-16:26, 25:32-38:38)
Content is commonly called “king” on the web, but many people do not give their content the attention it deserves on their web sites. This episode of Boagworld looks at the role of a content strategist, along with a nice discussion of “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQs) sparked by an article on A List Apart. While I highly recommend the article on FAQs, the quiz questions will only come from the two specified segments of the podcast.

Once you have listened to this material, you will need to take a quiz of ten true-false questions. (These questions will be randomly selected from the questions below. You can retake the quiz up to five times. Don’t stress about getting 100% on these quizzes: if you get 80% or better, you will be ready to proceed to the next activity and I will give you full credit.)

All questions should be prefaced with an understood, “According to the author of the material … “:

  1. T/F? Relly believes that all sites need a “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ) section.
  2. T/F? People come to a “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ) section for help and assistance.
  3. T/F? If a question is being asked frequently, you should incorporate the answer in your web site’s main content (instead of just dumping it into a  “Frequently Asked Questions” [FAQ] section).
  4. T/F? Relly primarily writes blog posts for clients to increase their search engine rankings.
  5. T/F? Relly incorporates offline content (like brochures) into her initial content audit.
  6. T/F? Most web site owners are intimately familiar with every piece of content on their web site.
  7. T/F? Web site owners need to have a budget for content.
  8. T/F? Relly believes that most web site owners can write content for their own web sites if they have a set of guidelines.
  9. T/F? Once you launch a new web site, you can have a party and move on to another project because all of the work for that web site is done.
  10. T/F? You should wait until you have time to look at every piece of content on your entire site before you start creating a tracking spreadsheet like the one Relly recommends.
