- Gradebook Declaration: I have published a blog post on my course blog that is at least 150 words long. I have spellchecked and proofread the post.
This week, we will be talking about content management systems, open source, WordPress, and usability. For this assignment, you’ll need to write a short post on your course blog about your familiarity with these topics. I have provided a list of questions below to give you some ideas about what you might want to write:
- Had you used any content management systems before taking this class? Have you used any content management systems in this class?
- Do you know the difference between WordPress.org, WordPress.com, and the WordPress Foundation?
- Have you searched for WordPress themes online? What’s your impression of them? Have you seen any that you like for your final project? Did you find any sites that had WordPress themes for sale? Were these better / the same / worse than the free themes?
- Do you know what a WordPress plugin is? Why would you need one?
- Have you ever read the full license of a piece of software you installed? If so, what did you think of it? If not, why not?
- Have you heard of open-source software? If so, name some open source projects. WordPress is released under an open source license known as the GPL: do know what rights and restrictions come with that license? Do you know any other open source licenses? Do you know which of the following are open source licenses and which are not? MLB, MIT, RGB, LGPL, BSD, IEEE?
- Are you aware of the field of usability? What does it mean for something to be “usable” or “have good usability”?
- How do product or website owners go about determine if their product has good usability?

Once you have completed this assignment, make your gradebook declaration.
