Final Presentations + Respond
DUE Sunday, Apr 29 – 6 points
(Monday NOON deadline)
- Gradebook Declaration: I have published a blog post on my course blog that is between 300 and 1000 words long talking about three presentations given on Friday, April 27. I have spellchecked and proofread the post. I have made a conscious effort to employ the techniques we discussed for writing better content for the web. I was not rude.
During Week 14, everyone was assigned to give a presentation about their final project. If you attended class that day to watch presentations by other students, you can complete this assignment. You will need to create a post in your course blog discuss three of the presentations. Here are some of the things you can write about:
- You can summarize the presentation. What was the name of the final project? What were the key points? What pages did the presenter show from their project?
- You can talk about what impressed you about the presentation. Did s/he say anything that surprised you? Did you notice that s/he incorporated any of the tips and tricks from Scott Berkun’s talk? Could you identify a “story” s/he was trying to tell? Was s/he confident? Excited or passionate about the project? Could you tell the presenter had rehearsed the presentation at least once?
- You can talk about what impressed you about the presenter’s project. Did you learn anything about the presenter’s project that you didn’t already know from your work during the semester? What were the site objectives? Who was the intended audience? How did those parts of planning the site affect the design and the content?
- You can offer helpful suggestions or constructive criticism meant to improve the presenter’s public speaking or project. What did you wish the presenter had talked more about? What was that one thing missing from the presentation? Was the presenter too shy or too unfamiliar with their material? What do you think would be a good next feature for the site to add as it grows? What feature is missing from their project that it needs to be added right now?
Please do not bash someone’s presentation or project in this assignment. The advice I received from a very wise person applies here: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” I added the final sentence — “I was not rude.” — to the gradebook declaration to account for that.
